T
1955 Desoto Coronado four door...1 of 487 built.
[special three tone paint California edition (aquagreen/black/white)]
The car was not a California edition, but rather a Springtime edition
introduced throughout the U.S. It was basically a Fireflite Sedan given
a tritone paint job and the deluxe Sportsman interior (i.e. Cloth and
Leather instead of all cloth). The tritone was available in any
combination (Turquoise Body, White Top, Black Sweep or any other
combination). The most common seems to be a Turquoise Body, Black Top
and White Sweep.
Numbers built are actually unknown as no records were kept, but people
generally believe around 500...

The
power window switch on the driver's door needs to be
attached better. The rear power windows work only once in a
while. I drive the car allot. The true miles are not known
as the odometer stopped before I got it. The speedometer
works fine.
The
radio does not work. The previous owner says it does. I
think a wire fell off.
The
brakes need to be done but I have gathered drums and shoes
from another car that are almost new. The front end needs
king pins and an idler arm which I have new. The trans needs
to be sealed.
The car
runs real strong. A piece of chrome needs to be replaced. It
goes with the car. The paint has a few chips here and there
but shines real nice!
We are
in Rockland County, NY State about 20 minutes off the
Tappan Zee bridge.
